QPR want Yiadom as well as Scowen

QPR want to sign a second player from Barnsley, with full-back Andy Yiadom in their sights.

West London Sport reports that Rangers are set to sign Josh Scowen when the midfielder’s Barnsley contract expires this weekend and are also planning to make an offer for Yiadom.

The Hertfordshire-born Scowen, 24, is set to return south after an impressive spell at Barnsley, who signed him from Wycombe in January 2015.

London-born Ghana international Yiadom, who can also play as a winger, joined the Yorkshire club from Barnet a year ago. He has another year left on his contract.

Meanwhile, QPR boss Ian Holloway has praised Michael Doughty following the midfielder’s move to Peterborough United.

Doughty, 24, completed his switch to Posh on Wednesday after 10 years with the R’s.

He made just 12 first-team appearances for the club and was even unable to establish himself after being recalled from a season-long loan at Swindon in January after Holloway said he wanted to give him a chance.

“Michael’s a great lad and he goes with our blessing,” Holloway told the club website.

“He’s served this club for 10 years and has been a model professional during the time I’ve been here. We all wish him well for the future.”
