Paper round-up: West Ham linked with Defrel, Arsenal talks ‘looking pretty good’

West Ham will make a January move to sign Gregoire Defrel from Italian side Sassoulo, the Daily Express claim.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the French striker, with both Premier League clubs reported to have watched him.

Defrel, 25, is under contract until 2020 and the Express say he could cost £20m.

West Ham are also interested in an £18m deal for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, according to The Sun.

Meanwhile, Metro reports that Arsenal’s general secretary David Miles has suggested that contract discussions with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are “looking pretty good”.

It comes after Miles told BT Sport: “Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts. At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way.”

Arsenal have a number of players whose contracts are due to expire within the next year or two.

The Daily Mirror say Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has offered Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson the chance to rebuild his career by joining the Championship club on loan.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly given Jenkinson, 24, the green light to make the move.

And according to The Times, John Terry has been told that this will be his last season as a player with Chelsea and that the club will look to find another role for him after his contract expires at the end of the season.
