Arsenal youngsters lose to Liverpool, Tottenham beat 10-man Derby County, West Ham fightback too late

Stephy Mavididi scored twice but Arsenal’s development side lost 3-2 to Liverpool at Anfield.

An entertaining Premier League 2 match produced two goals in the opening four minutes, with Harry Wilson’s clever chip putting the hosts ahead before Mavididi rounded off a lovely team move by tapping in the equaliser.

But the Gunners were 3-1 down by half-time after Wilson scored again, this time from the penalty spot, and Sheyi Ojo doubled Liverpool’s lead.

Arsenal battled on in the second half and Mavididi pulled a goal back with a low strike.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s Under-23s beat Derby County 2-0 at Stevenage.

Goals from Kyle Walker-Peters and Shayon Harrison put Spurs in control before the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Kyron Stabana was sent off on the half-hour mark for a second bookable offence.

Also in Premier League 2, striker Stephen Humphrys scored twice as Fulham’s development side thrashed Brighton 4-0.

There were also goals for Tayo Edun and George Williams in a one-sided game at Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground.

Humphrys netted from close range following a corner and keeper Jesse Joronen produced a fine save to preserve the Whites’ lead before Edun made it 2-0 after a lovely team move a couple of minutes before half-time.

Shortly after Cauley Woodrow hit the post, another close-range finish from Humphrys made it three early in the second half, and Williams fired home from 25 yards in injury time.

And West Ham’s Under-23s lost 3-2 at home to Swansea, who were three up before late goals from Antonio Martínez and Domingos Quina.
