Paper round-up: Townsend set for move – Sun on Sunday

Andros Townsend is set to return to Newcastle, according to The Sun on Sunday.

Newcastle are keen to re-sign their former winger from Crystal Palace, who are reportedly in talks with the Magpies over an £18m deal.

The Sun on Sunday expect the move to happen, with Townsend tipped to replace Matt Ritchie, who looks set to leave Newcastle for Stoke.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to go head-to-head with Liverpool in a battle to sign Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, again according to The Sun on Sunday.

But the newspaper believe both Premier League clubs would need to persuade him to leave Real as he has indicated that he wants to stay there.

The Spain international was recently quoted as saying: “My dream has always been to play for Real Madrid.

“I am very happy at Real Madrid, it is the team that formed me as a player and I hope I can stay for many years.”

The Sunday Mirror say goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will look to leave Chelsea if Real Madrid come in for him, while the Mail on Sunday say the Blues are planning to make Roma an offer for Brazil keeper Alisson because they fear losing Courtois.

The Sun on Sunday say Maurizio Sarri could be installed as Chelsea manager as early as Monday and will look to sign CSKA Moscow’s Russia midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

The Sun on Sunday also say Burnley are considering signing James Collins following the out-of-contract defender’s recent departure from West Ham.
