Arsenal approached about potential Ghezzal signing, Sun say

Arsenal have been handed the chance to beat Everton to the signing of Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal, The Sun say.

The 24-year-old Algeria international is in the final year of his contract at Lyon and is expected to leave the French club at the end of the season.

He has often been touted for a move to the Premier League and Everton are said to be still keen to sign him, having reportedly missed out on him during the summer.

According to reports, Everton agreed a £12m fee with Lyon but Ghezzal rejected the move to Goodison Park because he wanted to join a bigger club.

The Sun suggest Everton remain interested in bringing him in on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season, but the newspaper claim his representatives have approached Arsenal to see if the Gunners would be interested in signing him.

It is claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested in a potential deal because there would be no transfer fee involved.

The Sun adds that Lyon are still hoping to persuade Ghezzal to sign a new contract with them but have already prepared for his departure with the signing of Memphis Depay from Manchester United earlier this week.
