Tottenham have completed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Moura.

Spurs have paid £25m for the 25-year-old Brazil international, who has signed a contract until 2023.

Arsenal also showed interest in Moura, at one stage considering him as a potential alternative to Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, before progress was made in their negotiations with the German club.

But Spurs were always in pole position to sign him and his arrival was confirmed shortly before their game against Manchester United at Wembley.

Speaking in a club video released on the Spurs Twitter feed, Moura set his sights high.

“I think the team is very, very strong. We can win a lot of things – why not the Champions League?” he said.

“It’s really amazing. I’ve never seen a training centre like this and the new stadium also. I am so excited because everything is perfect and I’m sure that we will do big things together.

“Here is a new challenge to show my talent, my quality. It’s also a big club.

“The history of the club is very, very interesting. It’s a pleasure for me to play for Tottenham.”

Moura also said his former PSG team-mate Serge Aurier, now at Spurs, was a key factor in him joining.

“He said a lot of good things  about the club, about the coach, about the fans. I am so happy to play with him again,” Moura said.
