Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Ben Davies is being troubled by an ankle knock.

The problem led to Wales international Davies being left out of the starting line-up for Spurs’ 0-0 draw against Swansea City at Wembley on Saturday.

Davies was named among the substitutes, with Heung-Min Son asked to play on the left-hand side.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Pochettino explained that Davies was struggling after picking up a knock in the Champions League in midweek.

“He got a big knock on his ankle against Borussia Dortmund,” Pochettino said.

“For different reasons we needed to rotate because we have a lot of games ahead.

“But I think one player is not the key to winning or losing. When you have 25 players you can use everyone.”

The goalless draw meant more frustration for Spurs at Wembley, where they are yet to win in the Premier League.

Pochettino said: “I am happy with the performance but disappointed with the result. We created lots of chances and deserved more.

“Maybe it is Wembley. We have spent one season talking about this but, in the end, what can we do?

“We have to play here. We have to put White Hart Lane in the past.”
