King issues plea to fans ahead of Champions League clash

Ledley King believes Tottenham are capable of beating Borussia Dortmund at Wembley tonight – and that the fans can play a major role.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side, depleted by injuries, face a tough task in their Champions League clash.

But former Spurs central defender King has no doubt they can beat the German heavyweights.

“Of course. You look at some of the previous results they’ve had at Wembley, beating Real Madrid and Dortmund,” King told Talksport.

“We’re going to need the fans again today. We’re going to need them to get behind the team and when they do magical things can happen at Wembley, so we’re hoping it’s one of them evenings.”

Pochettino’s options have been limited by the absence of the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli but the team have continued to dig out results.

And ex-England international King expects Spurs to go on the attack regardless of their current injury problems.

King said: “Dortmund are a good side but this Spurs team, regardless of the personnel playing, they don’t set up to be defensive.

“The manager believes in going out there and trying to win the game. A few players are missing tonight, but that won’t change.”
