Danny Rose is in Tottenham’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

England defender Rose, sidelined since January with a knee problem, travelled with the rest of the squad to Madrid and is expected to be on the substitutes’ bench.

His return is a timely boost for boss Mauricio Pochettino, with Ben Davies currently unavailable because of illness.

Jan Vertonghen filled in at left-back against Bournemouth in the Premier League win at Wembley on Saturday and is expected to do again, but Rose could feature at some stage.

“Danny Rose will be on the bench and it’s important,” Pochettino told Spurs’ website.

“Maybe he’s not fit to play to play from the beginning, but to help the team. It’s very good for the team and for him after nearly 10 months away.

“It’s always important for a player to feel involved again and part of the team.”

Mousa Dembele has also travelled with the Tottenham squad.
