QPR youngster says it’s been a ‘crazy few months’

Olamide Shodipo has spoken of his joy after signing a new contract at QPR.

The 19-year-old winger has been given a new two-and-a-half-year deal at Loftus Road, where he is now under contract until the summer of 2019.

He told QPR’s website it had been a “crazy few months” for him, with Shodipo having made his senior debut against Leeds on the opening day of the season.

Shodipo has made 10 further first-team appearances for the R’s and is now regarded as an important member of their squad.

“To get this contract feels like a reward,” Shodipo added.

“I have worked hard but I’ve got to make sure I keep that going.

“It has been an amazing experience to be involved with the first team. It’s new surroundings and new pressures, but that’s something I have to learn to deal with.”

Shodipo says help he has received from his team-mates has also helped him make his mark this season.

He said: “The likes of Nedum Onuoha, Tjaronn Chery, Seb Polter and especially Karl Henry have really helped me.

“They tell me to keep working hard, keep pushing, and never switch off.

“The fans have been great to me as well. They have given me a real boost and you can sense they really want me to do well, which is a brilliant feeling for me to have.”
