QPR boss predicts ‘explosive’ showdown with Millwall

QPR manager Steve McClaren expects tonight’s London derby against Millwall to be a feisty encounter.

The Lions caused Championship leaders Leeds problems at the weekend, while McClaren’s side are in decent form.

Rangers have taken seven points from their last three games, having lost all of their opening four league matches under McClaren, who says they will face a tough test at Loftus Road.

“We know what Millwall are all about, they play to their strengths and it is going to be a very explosive game,” McClaren told QPR’s website.

“They should have beaten Leeds on Saturday. I watched the game and they should have won it in the end, they dominated them.

“Always against Millwall it is a difficult game, we have to put in performances like we did against Wigan, Birmingham and Bolton where we had to really, really compete at the top level to get results.”

Rangers won 2-1 at Bolton on Saturday to record their first away victory since McClaren took over.

“This is a big week for us, we wanted to start it well and we have done,” he said.

“This is the Championship and it is consistency that you need. That consistency we’ve shown in the last three games needs to continue.”
