Warburton says QPR won’t be signing defender O’Shaughnessy in January

QPR boss Mark Warburton has insisted he is not looking to sign Daniel O’Shaughnessy.

The defender played at Brentford under Warburton and Football Insider claimed that Rangers are among Championship clubs keen to bring O’Shaughnessy back to England.

The Finland international is currently with HJK Helsinki, where his performances have led to reports that he could be snapped up.

Sheffield Wednesday were also said to be interested in signing him.

But Warburton has told West London Sport there is no prospect of O’Shaughnessy moving to Loftus Road.

“There’s absolutely no truth in that whatsoever,” said Warburton.

“Daniel’s a lovely lad and playing well but has never been on our list.”

Warburton has been linked with several other players ahead of the January transfer window – many of whom currently play outside the UK.

He is keen to strengthen his squad in the weeks ahead.

But Warburton, whose struggling side are without a win in eight games, said: “I’ve no idea where these stories come from.

“I’ve been linked with players I’ve never heard of before. I’d love to know where they emanate from.

“I’ve been linked with so many strikers and defenders and it’s ludicrous.

“I read these stories in utter disbelief sometimes.”
