QPR close to signing defender Goode

QPR are reportedly set to complete the signing of defender Charlie Goode from Northampton Town.

West London Sport recently reported that Rangers were interested in the centre-back and ready to pay £500,000 in order to take him to Loftus Road.

And Football Insider now say QPR are close to sealing a deal to sign the 25-year-old for £1m.

It seems as though negotiations between the clubs have led to an agreement, paving the way for Goode to step up to the Championship.

Football Insider say Middlesbrough were also interested in him after his performances in League Two this season.
Goode was a key player for Northampton as they won promotion via the play-offs.

QPR boss Mark Warburton has made no secret of his intention to sign a centre-back this summer.

He has lost Grant Hall, who turned down the offer of a new contract and has since signed for Middlesbrough on a free transfer.

Rangers were unconvincing at the back last season and clearly need to improve in that area,

Meanwhile, West London Sport say Warburton wants to give Dominic Ball a new contract as a reward for his performances since joining the R’s.

Ball was picked up on a two-year deal last summer and has since turned in some solid displays for Warburton’s side.
