Embargo won’t stop QPR as club line up double signing

QPR face a transfer embargo in January as part of the club’s Financial Fair Play settlement – but they are continuing to look further into the future with their signings.

Rangers have a policy of giving youngsters released by other clubs another chance to make it.

And West London Sport reports that the club have decided to sign youngsters Lewis Walker and Charlie Rowan, who have been on trial with the R’s.

Striker Walker, the 19-year-old son of former England defender Des Walker, has been looking for a new club since leaving Derby County in the summer.

And centre-back Rowan, 20, left Watford and is also set for a chance at Loftus Road.

West London Sport reports that both players have been offered one-year contracts and will initially play for QPR’s development side.

The approaching embargo will not stop Rangers from making similar signings in January, as free transfers will still be allowed and clubs are free to sign unattached players outside of transfer windows.

Walker and Rowan are set to join a growing list of QPR youngsters looking to prove a point after not making the grade at other clubs.

They include Ebere Eze, who has gone from strength to strength since being picked up after being released by Millwall.

More recently QPR picked up Ben Wells, a defender who came through the ranks at West Ham.
