Boss Tuchel ‘concerned’ about Abraham injury

Thomas Tuchel has admitted being a “bit concerned” about Tammy Abraham.

The Chelsea striker is still struggling with an ankle knock he picked up against Newcastle.

He was recently forced to stop during a training session and Blues boss Tuchel confirmed Abraham will miss Saturday’s game against Leeds United.

“The pain from the tackle is still there,” Tuchel added at a press conference on Friday.

“It’s been a long time since he’s been 100% free and comfortable in training. Even if he finishes training, I can see he isn’t 100% free. I have complete trust in our medical department and they will take care of him.

“Tammy had to leave the pitch in the warm-up. He will get all the time he needs. It’s important he feels zero pain and then we can think about his comeback.”

Thiago Silva will also miss the Leeds game after suffering a setback in his comeback from a thigh injury.

The veteran defender was on the bench for the win against Everton and it was hoped that he would soon return to action.

“Thiago had a little setback in training,” Tuchel explained. “He felt something around the same area he was injured. He will be out.”
