Former England striker Darren Bent does not believe Sergio Aguero will end up at Chelsea.
Aguero has recently been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge and it has now been confirmed that the Argentine will leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season.
But ex-Tottenham and Charlton star Bent doesn’t think Aguero would opt for Chelsea, who have other attacking options in the likes of Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner.
“I can’t see him doing that because he’s been at Manchester City for so long,” Bent said on Talksport.
“I don’t think Chelsea would be the right place for him. They’ve still got Tammy there. Giroud’s still there. Werner’s there. Then you’ve got Aguero who’s had his injuries.
“He’ll make any team better, but will he go to Chelsea? I can only see him going back to Argentina.”
Aguero has enjoyed a glittering 10-year spell at City but has not managed to win the Champions League.
There has been speculation that he might want another crack at Europe’s top prize if City miss out this season.
Bent said: “That’s the one trophy since he’s been at City’s that’s eluded him. I’m sure he’ll be massively disappointed if they didn’t win it this year.
“Do I think that would play into his thinking in terms of where he went next? I really don’t think it does.
“I just don’t think it (going to another Premier League team) is in his make up.”
