Chelsea tipped to offer Kante new deal

Chelsea are reportedly set to offer N’Golo Kante a lucrative new contract.

The Frenchman has two years remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge but the club are said to be keen to reward him with new terms.

A number of clubs have been linked with Kante in recent months, including Inter Milan and Juventus.

But Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says two offers were turned down for Kante and that he is happy at Chelsea.

Romano posted on Twitter: “Chelsea will offer N’Golo Kanté a new contract, planning to open negotiations in the next months – “no rush” as the relationship with N’Golo is great.

“He wanted to stay last summer after some ‘complicated’ weeks and two bids received, Chelsea want to reward Kanté.”

Kante has been troubled by injuries in the past couple of seasons but has reproduced his best form since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in January and was outstanding as the Blues won the Champions League and secured a top-four finish.

He had a tough time under the previous two Chelsea managers, with Maurizio Sarri controversially deploying him in a more attacking role and Kante suffering a run of injuries during Frank Lampard’s time at the helm.
