Three important things we learned from Lampard’s press conference

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard spoke at a press conference on Monday afternoon ahead of the Champions League game against Sevilla. Here are three key things we learned.

Billy Gilmour will be back soon

“Billy is working really well. He’s probably three or four weeks away from his return.

“He’s working outside with the physios at the moment but we hope to integrate him into training with either ourselves or the Under-21s at some point soon.

“We are probably looking at the other side of the next international break with Billy, all being well.”

Chelsea have conceded an average of almost 1.5 goals per game under Lampard – and he suggested Kepa is to blame

“I’m aware of the stats and the other stat is we’ve conceded the second least shots.

“It helps to narrow down the issue. It’s something we’re aware with recruitment and on the pitch with the players to make sure we set up well.

“We want to concede less, as do all teams at the moment.”

And the manager wants to see an improvement against Sevilla

“Concentration, focus and discipline is even more important against opposition like Sevilla.

“I keep talking about the need for work and how things can take time. We’re playing with new players and it’s understandable to have moments where I talk about game management.

“It has to be worked on with time. It’s a lesson to be learnt in time.”
