Three important things we learned from Lampard’s press conference

Frank Lampard spoke at a press conference on Friday afternoon to preview Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United. Here are three things we learned.

N’Golo Kante is still not fit

“N’Golo Kante won’t be fit for the match. He’s still not quite right, so he’s out for Sunday.

“We have a few players that have a few little other niggles and we’ll be monitoring them over the next 24 hours or so.”

Lampard doesn’t know how much money he’ll have to spend this summer

“We’ll see. I can’t answer that one. We’re not there yet.

“We have to focus on what’s in front of us and we’ll see how we can compare it to any other spending summer or not.

“We’ll see how I feel and we feel as a club – whether the squad needs strengthening or the balance needs changing.

“If it does and we make moves, great. At the moment we don’t know.”

Lampard can’t want for Chelsea fans to return to matches

“I’m very excited to welcome our fans back.

“It’s not just our fans. I think the country are craving for fans to be back at games because of the atmosphere and what the game means here.

“If and when it’s done in the right way, with the right precautions – and I think football has made some great steps in a difficult situation – we can get our fans back in the stadium.”
