Agent performs U-turn and says Jorginho may leave Chelsea – but not for Arsenal

Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos says the midfielder could return to Italy to reunite with Maurizio Sarri if the former Chelsea boss gets another job in Serie A.

Jorginho played under Sarri at Napoli and Chelsea and was widely tipped to leave Stamford Bridge and rejoin him at Juventus.

Sarri has since been sacked by Juve – but Santos has suggested the duo could still end up being reunited elsewhere.

“He’s very happy with Frank Lampard and Chelsea can do even better than last season,” Santos told Calciomercato, as reported by the Mail.

But Santos added: “Almost all the Italy players are in Serie A, as it’s an important league, but his journey took him to London. If Maurizio Sarri had remained, perhaps he’d have joined Juventus.

“Jorginho has a personal and professional bond with the coach that is very strong. We’re waiting to see where Sarri goes, and if it’s a big club in Italy, Jorginho could follow him.”

It seems like a change of tone from Santos, who recently insisted that reports Jorginho was on his way out of Chelsea were wide of the mark.

As well as Juve and other Italian clubs, he has been linked with Arsenal and French champions Paris St-Germain.

“Jorginho still has a three-year contract with Chelsea, this plus two,” Santos told 90min.com last month.

“I feel a lot of talk about Arsenal and PSG in the last few days, but the reality is that up to now, no official offer has arrived for the player. I can say that it is just rumours.

“He is happy at Chelsea, he started the season well and being the vice-captain at the moment.

“It is hard to see him in Serie A because he has an important salary and a cost that only two or three clubs can afford.”
