Chelsea youngster facing long spell out

Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown looks unlikely to return to action any time soon.

Brown recently joined Leeds United on a season-long loan and is looking to bounce back from a cruciate injury he suffered in January while on loan at Brighton.

However, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa believes it will be some time before Brown is fit enough to play for the Championship club, reports Leeds Live.

Brown, 21, is still working on his rehabilitation and has not yet been able to train with the rest of the Leeds squad, so a return to action appears to be some time away.

Bielsa, whose team are  currently top of the table, admitted: “It’s been a long time since he played, he still needs to recover.

“He hasn’t started to play with the ball, he hasn’t played football with us so far. It’s impossible to say when he will be fit. It won’t be a short time.”

Lewis Baker, who is also on loan at Leeds from Chelsea, is yet to start a league game for Bielsa’s side this season.

Baker, 23, has made two starts for Leeds in the Carabao Cup, against Bolton and Preston, but all of his appearances in the Championship so far this term have been as a substitute.
