Chelsea update: Ben Chilwell alternatives eyed, Ampadu’s future and Havertz latest

Chelsea continue to be linked with Leicester City star Ben Chilwell – as well as several alternative left-backs.

Chilwell has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer but Leicester want a big transfer fee for the England international and it remains to be seen whether he can be prised away from the King Power Stadium.

For a long time, Alex Telles was the man widely touted as a possible alternative signing for Chelsea should they not be able to agree a deal for Chilwell.

These days Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico seems to be the most likely signing for Chelsea if Chilwell stays at Leicester.

Robin Gosens has caught the eye for Atalanta in Italy and the Daily Mail say Chelsea could look to snap him up for £27m.

The Mail also say Marc Cucurella of Spanish side Getafe is another left-back option for Chelsea this summer.

Ampadu tipped to join Fulham

Ethan Ampadu is expected to spend another season on loan away from Chelsea – with Fulham the favourites to snap him up.

Norwich have been in talks over Ampadu but look set to miss out following their relegation back to the Championship.

Journalist Michael Bailey of The Athletic has suggested that Norwich will miss out and that Ampadu is likely to end up at Fulham.

White a no-go

Chelsea have been linked with centre-back Ben White – but The Sun say Brighton have no intention of selling him.

White was outstanding while on loan at Leeds last season, playing a key role in the Yorkshire club’s promotion to the top flight.

Chelsea and Liverpool have been linked with him but it appears he is not for sale.

Havertz deal reportedly close

Kai Havertz continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports in Germany suggest Havertz has made it clear he wants to leave this summer and is keen to join the Blues.

The Sun reports this morning that Havertz seems to be edging closer to a move.
