Chelsea need to keep Fabregas, says Hasselbaink

Former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes it is crucial the club hold onto Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard’s future has been the subject of much speculation, with AC Milan among the European clubs linked with him in recent months.

More recently, Fabregas has been linked with a possible move elsewhere in the Premier League, with Manchester United and Liverpool reported to be interested in him.

But ex-QPR manager Hasselbaink, who scored 70 Premier League goals for Chelsea during a memorable four-year spell at Stamford Bridge, says the Blues should not sell Fabregas this summer.

The Dutchman believes Fabregas could end up being more involved next season as Chelsea do not have another player like him.

“I wouldn’t like to see him go, Chelsea don’t have enough players like Fabregas,” Hasselbaink told Talksport.

“He’s somebody who can open defences up, who is very good at giving the final pass and just creating.

“I know he hasn’t played as much as he would have wanted, because Chelsea have had a really settled side this year.

“But I do see him playing a lot more next year if he stays because of the Champions League.

“Things can change all the time in football, so I do see him playing a lot more. I don’t think Chelsea will let him go.”
