Tomori move likely after Christensen injury boost

Andreas Christensen is set to return to training – possibly paving the way for Fikayo Tomori to join Leeds United from Chelsea on loan.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is believed to be keen to take defender Tomori to Elland Road for the second half of the season.

Reports suggested the move could be scuppered by centre-back Christensen suffering a knee injury.

However, speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, Chelsea boss Lampard revealed that the injury is not serious.

Christensen will miss Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Morecambe along with Reece James and N’Golo Kante but the Dane is due to train on Saturday.

“Reece James is out of the game, although he will be training with us tomorrow,” Lampard said.

“The game comes too early for Reece. The same with Andreas Christensen.

“N’Golo Kante is out also – a minor hamstring injury, which means he misses this game and he is also suspended against Fulham next Friday. So we’ll get him right.”

Lampard also confirmed that Christensen was injured in a challenge involving Jack Grealish during the recent draw against Aston Villa.

Christensen attracted some criticism for staying down – with Villa going on to score. Now he appears to have been vindicated.

Lampard said: “I’ll put that right – the injury was absolutely from that moment in the Villa game.

“It was probably the typical modern-day reaction, where Andreas gets stick.

“He’s been out injured and the injury isn’t too bad, which is good news for him, so he’ll be back training us tomorrow.”
