Mourinho expects Kane to return for Arsenal game

Jose Mourinho believes Harry Kane will be fit to return to the Tottenham side for Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal.

Kane missed Spurs’ 3-3 draw with LASK in the Europa League but boss Mourinho expects the striker to be available against the Gunners.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Mourinho said: “I believe he’s going to be fit. I’m not sure. He’s having treatment.

“I could do some big bluff and pretend he’s in big trouble. He’s not in big trouble. I believe that he’s going to play.”

The draw was enough to seal Tottenham’s place in the knockout stage but Mourinho was unimpressed by their below-par performance.

He questioned the attitude of his players, with a number of them failing to take the chance to impress him, but predicted Spurs would be better in the knockout games.

“I think it’s a question of attitude, which I have experienced before even at Manchester United,” said Mourinho.

“I had a similar situation – we lost two matches away in the group phase.

“When we get into the knockouts and you get better opponents and more difficulties, the team faces matches in a different way.

“The fact that the Europa League group phase doesn’t motivate some of the players, I knew it.”
