Pellegrini: West Ham a happier club now

Manuel Pellegrini insists West Ham is a far happier club than when they faced Burnley last season.

The home clash with the Clarets in March was marred by unsavoury scenes with pitch invasions and protests against the club’s owners.

However, a hefty summer spend and some encouraging displays this season has seen the mood change at the London Stadium, even though two fans ran onto the pitch during the 3-1 defeat by Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Ahead of Saturday’s visit from the Clarets, Pellegrini said: “I knew what happened last year against Burnley here.

“I think that we feel in every game, especially when we are improving, the support of all the fans is doing good. It gives us desire to win.

“The players feel that too, I am 100 per cent sure we have the support of the fans behind us.”
