Moyes hopeful West Ham signings are close

David Moyes hopes to announce news on signings next week as West Ham look to add much-needed depth to their squad.

Speaking at a press conference before their clash with Arsenal, the Hammers boss confirmed the club had made offers for players and hoped developments would be made within the next seven days.

West Ham have had a disappointing transfer window to date, and have so far failed to land prime target James Tarkowski from Burnley.

Club captain Mark Noble joined supporters in expressing his dismay at departures and lack of strengthening following the sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom earlier this month.

Moyes said his squad was imbalanced, with plenty of wide options, but a shortage of defenders after the departures of Jeremy Ngakia, Pablo Zabaleta, and Winston Reid.

Just over a fortnight remains before the transfer window slams shut.

The Hammers face a daunting run of fixtures against the Premier League’s big guns, starting with a trip to the Emirates Stadium.

Moyes said Noble was being assessed for the game after missing training with a toe problem.

But he hoped Jack Wilshere would soon be available after missing the midweek EFL Cup tie with Charlton, with a scan revealing bone growth.
