Moyes has done a ‘great job’ at West Ham

Harry Redknapp believes David Moyes deserves credit for the “great job” he has done at West Ham.

Manager Moyes has faced criticism this season and there has been speculation about his future as the Irons have faced the threat of relegation.

But they are in the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League – a competition Redknapp thinks they will win – and continued to pull away from the drop zone by thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday.

Speaking on Talksport, former West Ham man Redknapp said: “They’re on a run now and I think they’ll win that European competition. No disrespect, it’s not the strongest competition.

“It was a big result yesterday and they’re playing well. Big result too against Arsenal to come back from two down.

“They’re in good form and I think they’ll finish well safe in the Premier League this year and I do think they’ll go on and win that European trophy.

“So all in all it’s not been a bad season. David gets an awful lot of stick there but he’s done great job the last couple of years.

“They win a trophy this year and finish safe, as I’m sure they will, it’s been another decent season really.”

The win at Bournemouth took West Ham up to 13th in the Premier League table, six points clear of the bottom three.

“It has been an excellent week,” Moyes declared at this post-match press conference.

“I’ve got to say the players have done a great job. You can sense they are gaining a bit of confidence and we are looking a little bit more like ourselves in terms of scoring.”
