Rice needs to leave West Ham, says Bowyer

Declan Rice needs to leave West Ham this summer, according to Lee Bowyer.

There continues to be speculation over the future of the England midfielder, who has been tipped to leave the London Stadium.

Former West Ham midfielder Bowyer – a boyhood Hammers fan – believes Rice needs to move on for the good of his career so that he can win silverware.

Bowyer told Talksport: “He needs to go and win things. For me the most important thing as a player is that you want trophies – you want to win things. Unfortunately, while he’s at West Ham, he ain’t really going to win much.

“I’m a West Ham fan and as much as I want Declan to stay because he’s the powerhouse, he’s the drive in our side and he’d be impossible to replace, for him as an individual he has to go and try and win things because he’s a very, very, very good player.”

A number of clubs have been linked with Rice over the last couple of years, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

But recent reports have suggested that current Premier League leaders Arsenal are strong favourites to sign him at the end of the season.
