Paper round-up: Hammers linked with Chambers

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers could join West Ham, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to strengthen his backline before the transfer window closes.

And the Telegraph say Chambers is an option for Moyes as his first-team prospects at Arsenal continue to be limited.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Rhian Brewster from Liverpool.

The youngster, who is apparently rated at £20m, has been linked with a number of clubs.

The Daily Mail suggest Palace, who are keen to make more new signings, are now in pole position to snap striker Brewster up.

The Mail also say Tottenham players were stunned by Dele Alli’s omission from the squad for the trip to Southampton – there are reports the England international could be sold.

And there is inevitable speculation too over Antonio Rudiger’s future after he was left out of the Chelsea squad for Sunday’s game against Liverpool.

Fikayo Tomori was chosen ahead of Rudiger for a place on the bench – and ended up coming on after Andreas Christensen was sent off.

The Daily Mail say Rudiger’s omission means there are doubts over his future at Chelsea, who recently signed veteran centre-back Thiago Silva.

Speaking after the game, Blues boss Frank Lampard said: “Now we have five centre-halves at the club. I can’t pick a squad that has three of them on the bench.

“So that’s the way it is. I have to pick the squad by training, situations and opponents and that was the selection.”
