Paper round-up: Sun say Ajax want £48m for De Ligt

Tottenham will have to pay a club-record £48m for Matthijs de Ligt, The Sun claim.

The Dutch defender, 18, has been touted as a replacement for Spurs’ Toby Alderweireld, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

United and Manchester City are also said to be interested in the highly-rated De Ligt, who has been tipped to leave Ajax this summer.

Meanwhile, The Sun have picked up on reports claiming that both Tottenham and Chelsea want Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of France youth international midfielder Yacine Adli from Paris St Germain, The Guardian reports.

The 17-year-old is reported to have rejected a new contract at PSG and is expected to move to north London.

Arsenal’s former PSG boss Unai Emery gave Adli his senior debut shortly before leaving the French club.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann.

The Express have picked up on a story in German newspaper Bild claiming that the Gunners are keen to snap up Klostermann, 22, this summer.

West Ham are in danger of losing Declan Rice, the Daily Mail say.

The Republic of Ireland international has been in contract talks with the club and is said to be unhappy with the offer he has been made.

Rice is reported to have been offered £8,000 a week, which is considerably less than Ryan Fredericks, who was recently signed from Fulham.

Brighton are confident of completing a £4m deal to sign Fulham goalkeeper David Button, The Sun say.

And the Daily Mirror say Chelsea are ready to cut their losses on Danny Drinkwater less than a year after signing him for £30m.

Drinkwater struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge last season following his move from Leicester City.

The Mirror suggest Chelsea could look to sell the England international and use the money to bring in Nice’s Jean Michael Seri, who continues to be linked with a move to the Bridge.

A number of other clubs have also been linked with Ivory Coast international Seri, including Arsenal and West Ham.
