‘Over the moon’ Burke completes Hull move

Defender Reece Burke has joined Hull City from West Ham for an undisclosed fee.

Burke, 21, has signed a three-year deal with the Tigers with the option of a further year.

The centre-back moves on in search of regular first-team football, having been with West Ham since the age of nine.

“I’m over the moon to have signed for Hull City,” Burke told the Tigers’ website.

“I enjoy playing football and I see this move as a big opportunity for me.

“I’ve had a good chat with the head coach and I know that the club were really keen to bring me here. That is a nice feeling to have.”

There were reports that recently-appointed Derby boss Frank Lampard was looking to sign Burke, who has played for England at Under-18-Under-19 and Under-20 levels.

But the player has opted for Hull, who had long been interested in signing him, and has flown out to
Portugal to join the rest of the Tigers squad at their training camp on the Algarve.

He made 15 senior appearances during his time as a West Ham player but most of his first-team experience has been during loan spells at Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City.
