West Ham have had a bid for Jamaal Lascelles rejected by Newcastle.
The Hammers offered around £20m for the Magpies captain but were told he is not for sale.
Everton are another club keen on centre-back Lascelles, who has also been linked with Chelsea – although the Blues have not made an approach for him.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez said towards the end of last season that he fully expected Lascelles to stay at St James’ Park despite the player being linked with other clubs.
He is among a host of central defenders Chelsea have been linked with in the last few months.
Meanwhile, West Ham will reportedly listen to offers for Michail Antonio and Cheikh Kouyate but have rejected bids from Fiorentina and Atalanta for midfielder Pedro Obiang.
Sky say the Hammers are looking for more than £15m for Antonio and around £10m for Kouyate, who featured for Senegal at the World Cup.
But the club have snubbed bids for Obiang, whose future at the club has also been in some doubt.
Recently-appointed boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to revamp the squad and wants Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes and Lazio’s Felipe Anderson to join Jack Wilshere at the London Stadium.
West Ham confirmed the signing of Wilshere on Monday.
