Paper round-up: Hammers linked with Fellaini and speculation continues over Sanchez

West Ham are planning to make a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini when the transfer window opens next month, The Telegraph say.

The newspaper suggests West Ham believe United boss Jose Mourinho might be willing to allow the Belgium international to leave Old Trafford.

A significant stumbling block will apparently be whether they can cover Fellaini’s wages, but they hope to cut a deal with United, say the Telegraph, which again suggests that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic are possible summer signings for the Hammers.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim Arsenal have been stunned by Alexis Sanchez’s wage demands because he is using a £400,000-per-week offer from China to try and get the club to smash their wage structure to keep him.

There has been much speculation about the Chile forward’s future as his Gunners contract expires in 2018 and the club are keen to tie him to a new deal.

Arsenal are maintaining contact with Sanchez’s representatives and remain hopeful of an agreement, the Mail say.

Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus is again touted as a potential replacement should Sanchez leave the Emirates Stadium.

And Middlesbrough have put a £35m price tag on defender Ben Gibson to try to scare off Chelsea, according to the Daily Mirror.
