Paper round-up: Star say Spurs want Bertrand and Mawson

Tottenham are lining up Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand and Swansea City centre-back Alfie Mawson, the Daily Star claim.

The Star say Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino sees former Chelsea man Bertrand as the ideal replacement for Danny Rose, who has been tipped to join Manchester United.

Bertrand would apparently cost £30m and the Star also reckon Pochettino is considering a move for Mawson too.

Swansea apparently want £50m for Mawson but the Star say that has not put Pochettino off.

Meanwhile, Reece Oxford does not want to return to West Ham and hopes he can stay at Borussia Monchengladbach, the Daily Mail say.

Oxford has been on loan at the German club and the Mail say he does not believe his long-term future is at West Ham.

The youngster is apparently hoping the Hammers will agree a deal to sell him this summer rather than price him out of a move.

Arsenal are set to sign Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to the Mirror, while The Independent say the Gunners are targeting Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

And Crystal Palace are to hold contract talks with Yohan Cabaye amd Joel Ward next week to clarify their plans for the future, The Guardian reports.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson said at a press conference on Thursday: “There are several out of contract.

“You can’t talk with people like Yohan Cabaye, Joel Ward, Julián Speroni, Damien Delaney or Chung-yong Lee until you know where you’re going to be and what you’ve got to offer.”
