Paper round-up: Spurs linked with Ranocchia and Sun say Van Aanholt wants move

The Evening Standard say Tottenham are considering Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia as a potential signing following the injury to Jan Vertonghen.

Belgian international Vertonghen is expected to be out for at least six weeks with an ankle injury.

The Standard say Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is considering bringing in Ranocchia, 28, ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Patrick van Aaanholt has told Sunderland he wants to leave, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reports that Crystal Palace are planning to table a £12m bid for the former Chelsea left-back.

Chelsea have once again been linked with Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, who has also been touted for a move to Manchester United.

The Daily Mirror declare Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants Lindelof and “is preparing to go head-to-head with Jose Mourinho” in a battle to sign the 22-year-old.

“Interest from Chelsea and also Inter Milan may even force United’s hand as they will not want to miss out,” the Mirror say.

The Sun claim Conte has been urged by his senior players to go for Joe Hart if Thibaut Courtois leaves.

Blues keeper Courtois continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

England international Hart, currently on loan at Torino from Manchester City, is among those to have been touted as a possible replacement for Courtois at Stamford Bridge in recent months.
