Paper round-up: Arsenal linked with Gueye and Celtic duo

Arsenal want to sign midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Everton this summer, The Sun say.

The newspaper declare that the Gunners are keen to snap up Gueye, 27, in order to “turn him into their own N’Golo Kante”.

The Sun say Arsene Wenger’s scouts have been impressed by Gueye since his move to Goodison Park from Aston Villa.

He has been compared to Chelsea star Kante by Everton director of football Steve Walsh and the Merseyside club are reportedly looking to offer Gueye an improved contract.

But it is claimed that Arsenal are ready to compete with interested clubs in Spain and Italy for the signing of the Senegal international.

The Sun, which has linked Juventus’ Moise Kean with Arsenal, now say the teenage striker will snub a potential move to the Premier League.

It follows reports in the Italian media that Kean, 17, is ready to sign a new contract at Juve.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reckon Arsenal want Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, the Daily Star claim they want his Bhoys team-mate Moussa Dembele,  and The Sun say Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is having second thoughts about making Jack Wilshere’s loan move from Arsenal permanent.

And the Daily Telegraph believe Arsenal are looking into the possibility of appointing a sporting director.

The club are said to have been exploring possible candidates for the role.

It comes amid continued speculation over whether manager Wenger will stay at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of the season, when his current contract is due to expire.
