Arsenal set to offer £50m for Forsberg, reports claim

Arsenal are ready to offer £50m for RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg, reports in his native Sweden claim.

Swedish publication Expressen claim the Gunners are about to make an approach for the 26-year-old, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

Forsberg, who has scored four goals for Leipzig this season, has been discussing a new contract with the German club.

He apparently appeared to suggest he might be leaving after the final game of the season, a 5-2 defeat by Hoffenheim, when he tweeted: “Thanks for everything.”

Meanwhile, in Italy, Corriere dello Sport have claimed that Chelsea might need to pay Napoli £7m if they want Maurizio Sarri, even though he has left the Italian club and been replaced by former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Sun is among UK newspapers to have picked up on reports claiming that Napoli are demanding the full £7m release clause for Sarri even though he is now longer in the job.

Chelsea are said to have offered £3.5m and been told that double that amount will be required.

And in France, Fulham are being linked with a move for Auxerre midfielder Lamine Fomba after their promotion to the Premier League, while Lyon are reported to be interested in Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho.
