Ange Postecoglou mocked the media after Tottenham’s Europa League triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Dominic Solanke’s penalty gave Spurs a 1-0 win in Germany, a 2-1 victory on aggregate and a place in the semi-finals.
It had been suggested that Postecoglou’s reign as Spurs boss might be over if his team went out of the competition.
So he enjoyed his post-match press conference, saying: “Unfortunately for a lot of you, you’re going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer, mate, so let’s see how that goes.”
Postecoglou praised his players, who answered their critics with an excellent display, and insisted he was unfazed by speculation about his future.
“I’m the same manager today that I was yesterday, so if people think us winning tonight makes me a better manager, or whoever thinks I wasn’t doing a good job yesterday should be feeling the same way,” he said.
“I don’t care. It doesn’t bother me – doesn’t affect what I do. It’s about the dressing room. Do the players believe? Do the staff believe? That’s much more important than what others might make of me.”
Tottenham will face either Lazio or Bodo/Glimt for a place in the final.
