Paper round-up: Tottenham could be forced to sell Eriksen, Mirror say

Christian Eriksen continues to be linked with Real Madrid.

Tottenham have been discussing a new contract with the Danish midfielder, whose current deal expires next year.

The Daily Mirror again say Real want Eriksen and that Spurs could be forced to sell him if he does not sign a new contract this summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham have been tipped to make another move for Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.

The Uruguayan, 22, was a Hammers transfer target in January but relegation-threatened Vigo refused to sell for less than the £42m in his release clause.

But the Mirror claim the buy-out fee will almost halve, dropping to £22m, if Vigo go down, and that West Ham could go back in for him.

The Daily Mail say Marko Arnautovic is frustrated after finding himself frozen out by Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini and could be involved in another transfer saga this summer.

West Ham striker Andy Carroll, whose contract expires in the summer, has suffered another ankle injury and could therefore have played his last match for the club, The Times reports.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is expected to get an England call-up for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro, The Guardian reports.

Crystal Palace and rivals Brighton are among clubs interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Mo Diame, the Daily Star say.

Turkish clubs Besiktas and Galatasaray are also said to be eyeing Diame along with sides in Spain and Italy.

“They know I want to stay,” Diame said last week. “I am happy at Newcastle.

“It was tough at the beginning but I settled down. But if I have to go, then I will go, it is no problem.”

Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to The Sun.

Arsenal will play at the grand opening of Dubai’s Al Maktoum Stadium during the international break next month, again according to The Sun.

Arsenal have enquired about teenage Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli and remain keen on Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico, the Mail say.

And there continues to be speculation over the future of Chelsea star Eden Hazard this summer.

The club appealing against a transfer ban and are set to challenge Fifa’s refusal to freeze it this summer until the appeal is heard.

The Daily Telegraph say Chelsea are therefore drawing up a Plan A and a Plan B – and that both are likely to include selling Hazard to Real Madrid.
