Tottenham star set to return against Southampton

Tottenham welcome back Kieran Trippier from injury for the Southampton clash.

The right-back has missed the last three games with a groin injury but should make a comeback against the Saints.

Jan Vertonghen is suspended for his red card at Arsenal on Sunday while Mousa Dembele (ankle), Erik Lamela (thigh), Victor Wanyama (knee) and Davinson Sanchez (hamstring) are all injured.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted that emotions might have got the better of his players during Sunday’s derby defeat to Arsenal.

Both north London clubs have been charged by the Football Association after a melee followed Eric Dier’s equaliser at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal went on to win the Premier League match 4-2.

Pochettino said at a press conference ahead of the Southampton game: “It is difficult in that moment to control the emotion. I ran down the touchline and arrived late and it was difficult to see what happened.

“It’s a situation that is difficult to control the emotion and we will see what happens. It is now about accepting whether the FA will charge or not.”

Provisional squad: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Aurier, Trippier, Rose, Alderweireld, Walker-Peters, Moura, Dier, Son, Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Winks, Lamela, Foyth, Davies, Sissoko, Llorente, Vorm.
