The five options for Spurs with Kane sidelined

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is out until March with an ankle injury. What at the alternatives for boss Mauricio Pochettino?

Fernando Llorente

The former Swansea striker has not scored in the Premier League this season and has netted just once in the top flight for Spurs. He has only started one league game since August 2017 and it is a tall order to expect him to fill Kane’s boots.

Vincent Janssen

Pochettino confirmed at the weekend the 2016 signing from AZ Alkmaar is not in his plans. Janssen has not played a minute for Spurs this season, mainly because of injury, and is unlikely to be riding to the rescue.

Lucas Moura

The Brazilian is only returning from a thigh injury himself but could make a comeback in Sunday’s Premier League trip to Fulham. He is the most likely to lead the line, fitness depending, and has eight goals this term.

Son Heung-min

The South Korea international will not be available again until after the Asian Cup. He could miss the next four games and not return until February 10 but with eight goals in his last 11 outings, he may be the best option on his comeback.

Buy another striker

Spurs did not sign anyone last summer and that gamble could now hurt any remaining titles hopes. January’s window is always inflated so Tottenham may have to overpay but it could be their only option to replace Kane.
