Marcus Edwards scored as Tottenham’s Under-19 side beat Apoel 4-1 in the Uefa Youth League ahead of the first team’s Champions League match against the Cypriot club.

Edwards, who captained the team, also missed a penalty in the game at Spurs’ Training Centre, where there were goals too for Reo Griffiths, Japhet Tanganga and Rodel Richards.

The home side, whose victory took them through to the knockout phase as group winners, were three up by half-time.

Griffiths scored the opener after being set up by Jack Roles, Edwards fired into the far corner to double the lead and Tanganga headed home from Samuel Shashoua’s corner.

After Roles was fouled in the area on the hour mark, Edwards hit the bar with the resulting spot-kick and Apoel pulled a goal back a minute later.

Edwards atoned by setting up Richards for Spurs’ fourth goal.
