Is former Tottenham man edging towards QPR move?

Sebastien Bassong made another appearance for QPR’s Under-23 side on Monday – perhaps a sign that he will be offered a deal at Loftus Road.

The former Tottenham defender has been without a club since leaving Norwich City and has been training with the R’s for several weeks.

He has featured in recent Under-23 games and was given another runout against Crystal Palace – and scored for home side in a 5-0 win at Rangers’ Harlington training ground.

Rangers say Bassong is training with them in order to keep fit while he looks for a new club.

But with no sign of the Cameroon international finding one, and with QPR manager Steve McClaren reportedly keen to beef up his defensive options, Bassong remains a possible option.

Bassong, 32, joined Spurs from Newcastle for £8m in 2009 and spent three years at White Hart Lane before moving to Norwich, where he spent five years.

He has also had spells on loan at Wolves and Watford during his time in England.

Norwich released him in 2017 and his career has effectively ground to a halt, but Bassong will be hoping it will get up and running again following several weeks of training and matches.
