Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Harry Kane’s improving fitness is the key to his recent goalscoring form.
The England striker, who signed a new long-term contract this week, scored twice as Spurs thrashed Swansea City 5-0 at White Hart Lane.
Since returning from injury last month, Kane has netted six goals in five matches and looked sharp against the Swans.
“It’s important for him. He worked hard all week,” Pochettino told reporters after the match.
“Now it’s about him being fit. I think it’s about once he improves his fitness – and now he’s at a very good level to attack the next few games.”
Tottenham, fifth in the Premier League table, made an emphatic return to winning ways following the disappointment of their recent derby defeat at Chelsea.
“We knew after the Chelsea game that we were in a very good way,” Pochettino said.
“It was important to get the three points today because we don’t want to be too far off the top.
“We showed very good energy on the pitch and we played very well. I’m very pleased.
“The result was fantastic. It’s true that in some matches we have played better, but 5-0 is a fantastic result.”
