Tottenham striker Harry Kane could return for Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal.
The 23-year-old, who has not played since injuring ankle ligaments against Sunderland on 18 September, trained on Tuesday and will be further assessed throughout the rest of the week.
However, he will not be ready in time for Wednesday’s Champions League tie at Wembley against Bayer Leverkusen.
Erik Lamela, who missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester through illness, is a doubt for the game against Leverkusen after suffering a hip problem in Tuesday’s session.
Toby Alderweireld also trained but, while Kane took part alongside the first team for some of it, the Belgian defender spent the session running on his own, separate from the rest of the group.
Alderweireld has missed Tottenham’s last four matches with a leg injury.
Spurs are in second place in Group E following the 0-0 draw in Germany on matchday three, one point behind leaders Monaco.
Leverkusen are another point back in third.
Tottenham won their first match at the new Wembley – beating Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final – but have lost on their five visits since, in two further League Cup finals, two FA Cup semi-finals and the Monaco game on matchday one.
