Pochettino laughs off reports Spurs could move for Aguero

Mauricio Pochettino has laughed off reports that Tottenham could make a move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Spurs were among the clubs linked with Aguero this week following speculation that the Argentine could leave City when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal and Chelsea were also said to be planning to make bids for the player.

“Not true. 100% not true,” said Spurs boss Pochettino when asked if his club were looking to sign Aguero.

Tottenham will again be without Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld against Leicester City on Saturday but are hopeful both players will be available for the following weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester game, Pochettino said: “Harry and Toby are not ready yet.”

He added: “It is difficult to know when (they will return), but maybe their evolution will be great in the next few days and maybe they will be available if not Wednesday then next Sunday.

“They are suffering a lot. They want to be available. They always want to play but sometimes it is not possible.

“They are very positive but sometimes you cannot accelerate the process.”
