Tottenham tipped to rival Villa in bid to sign Gallagher

Tottenham are reportedly set to rival Aston Villa for the signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea have been tipped to sell the England international in order to help the club comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Villa have been discussing a deal to sign Gallagher this summer and are expected to submit a bid.

But the Mail say Spurs are also keen on him and are set to table a rival bid in an attempt to take Gallagher to north London.

He impressed during a season on loan at Crystal Palace in 2021-22 before making an impressive 51 appearances for Chelsea last term, having been made captain by Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea were tipped to sell him during the January transfer window and he ended up staying at Stamford Bridge, but speculation over his future has remained.

However, Gallagher is known to want to stay at Chelsea and establish himself as a first-team regular for the Blues.

And he has indicated that he is looking forward to playing under new boss Enzo Maresca.

“I’ve heard really good things and I’ve seen really good things,” Gallagher recently told Sky Sports.

“Myself and everyone at Chelsea are really happy and excited to work with him.”
