Paper round-up: Tottenham eyeing alternatives to Pope

Tottenham are looking for a cheaper alternative to Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, the Daily Mail say.

Pope is among keepers Spurs have been linked with amid speculation over the future of Hugo Lloris.

Frenchman Lloris has attracted criticism for some of his performances and reports have suggested that manager Jose Mourinho could look to replace him.

Lloris has been linked with a move to Paris St-Germain, where former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is now in charge.

The Mail say Burnley want in excess of £30m for England international Pope and that Spurs are therefore looking at other possible options.

These are said to include Wolfsburg’s Koen Casteels and Lille’s Mike Maignan.

The Mail also reports that Italian club Bologna are interested in signing Tottenham forward Erik Lamela.

Lamela, who has 18 months remaining on his contract, previously played in Serie A for Roma, where he spent two years.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star claim former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could end up taking over at Tottenham.

It follows reports in Italy that Conte could quit Inter Milan at the end of the season.

The Star suggest that could mean Conte becomes a contender to take over at Tottenham or Manchester United this summer.
