Speculation over Conte continues as Pochettino is linked with return

There continues to be speculation over the future of Antonio Conte and who might replace him as Tottenham boss.

Conte looks to be on his way out of the club, having criticised chairman Daniel Levy and the players during an extraordinary post-match press conference after the recent draw against Southampton.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to north London.

Pochettino remains a popular figure among Spurs fans, having led the club to the Champions League final during his time at the helm.

However, according to The Times, Pochettino is high on Real Madrid’s wish list if current boss Carlo Ancelotti leaves.

Meanwhile, according to Teamtalk.com, Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici disagree over who should replace Conte.

It is claimed that Levy would like to bring Pochettino back but that Paratici’s choice would be former Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

Sky Sports have reported that Tottenham’s players would like Pochettino to return and that some have been in contact with him.

Conte remained in his native Italy on Thursday, fuelling reports that his time at Spurs is over.

Reports suggest Ryan Mason is likely to be placed in interim charge until the end of the season, ahead of an appointment being made in the summer.

Mason has been in caretaker charge before and is well liked by the club’s hierarchy.
